UN, SANEF host free media workshop on using AI to combat false information

The United Nations in South Africa, in collaboration with the South African National Editors’ Forum (SANEF), is inviting South African journalists to participate in a one-day free media training workshop on how to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) in combating misinformation and disinformation.
Objectives
- Learn AI’s capabilities in detecting and identifying false information in real time
- Use AI tools to assess sentiment and intent in order to differentiate between misinformation disinformation
- Use AI-powered technology to enhance fact-checking methods, and
- Raise user awareness and digital literacy to develop ways for avoiding misinformation and disinformation

Time: 08:00 to 16:00
This will be an interactive workshop using the Internet, so all participants are expected to bring their laptops or tablets (ideally) or smart phones.
